It’s ‘Bahasa Malaysia’ for examinations starting this year

    By Tiuniasing | June 15, 2007

PUTRAJAYA: The subject “Bahasa Melayu” will be referred to as Bahasa Malaysia in public examinations from this year. More Tius

Topics related to our Bahasa Kebangsaan has been debating for many fucking years, and it continues to become one of the hottest topic in town. The Cabinet always debate over this issue from time to time and changes have been made every now and then. And those ham sap ah pek at kopitiam and those sam pat poh silai also discuss about this topic though they can’t do anything to it. So I reckon this is a very hot topic today, that’s why I bring it up this morning.

In the statement, it clamined that we had been using ‘Bahasa Melayu’ for the subject name in both PMR and SPM examinations since 1992. Now, we are going to use ‘Bahasa Malaysia’, no longer ‘Melayu’ anymore. If you ask me the difference between ‘Melayu‘ and ‘Malaysia‘, I would say we Malaysia are getting more lansi nowadays. We have been upgraded, we’ve been enchanced. Changes mean that that must be certain level of improvement in it, that’s why we need to change. In another words, if we keep on changing the policy and system, that means our policy and system are getting better and better. Do you agree with me?? We don’t change to become worse I’d say.

The most significant improvement that I can see in this changes is, we are getting recognised already. There is a method to test this recognition. This method is so fucking simple that everyone can do it now in less than a minute. If you take more than one minute to do it, I’d suggest you to throw your computer to the museum and get a new one. Alright, let’s do it together now, immediately.

I believe everyone of you has got Microsioft Word installed in your computer, be it original or pirated, I don’t fucking care. The pirated one works perfectly fine for this test. Okay, start your Microsoft word in a new document, and make sure you didn’t disable the spelling and grammar check feature. Then type both ‘Malaysia’ and ‘Melayu’ in it. After typing the words, you will see that your Word don’t recognise ‘Melayu’. But there isn’t a problem for ‘Malaysia’, right?? That’s what we called, WE ARE BEING RECOGNISED ALREADY!! MALAYSIA BOLEH!!

oi tiuniasing! i tot all the while we were learning bahasa malaysia…that was till someway in secondary school the exam papers read bahasa melayu….din noe this was a big hoo-haa until recently…

n btw u said “Changes mean that that must be certain level of improvement in it, that’s why we need to change.”

      well…sometimes it holds true…but sometimes changes are made for the worse….depends on who’s perspective u r in….

the syariah court prob involving lina joy? they say it’s in the constitution rite? cant remember article what la….but that part of constitution was rewritten during mahathir’s administration…it’s not in the ori constitution…

Melayu is the race, the language.
      Malaysia is the country.

Bahasa Melayu is the language itself.
Bahasa Malaysia is… languages that are spoken in Malaysia.

So since they are changing Melayu to Malaysia… If one doesn’t know how to say a word in Malay, one can write Chinese into karangan. So good.

      bobby,
about the ‘changes’ statement, I am speaking of it in general. You’re right, it depends on who’s perspective I am in. But generally speaking, it has to be beneficial to the most of the people or public or else, you will see Tiuniasing holding a big board written “FREEDOM” and shouting “WE WANT FREEDOM” on the street!!
About Lina’s case, I have a better idea for her if she’d like to change her religion. I’d suggest her to migrate to Canada or something, and change her religion there. Hmm… I stopped following the threads because I know there’s no way her application will get approved, no matter what.

      742,
dude, you’re wrong. Any language can be the national language of a country. If Malaysia is lead by the Chinese, we may see Mandarin or Cantonese as Bahasa Malaysia too.
But in this case, the government chose Bahasa Melayu as Bahasa Malaysia, so that means officially we must use Malay in every corner of the country, no exception to your karangan!!
But come to think of it, why are there so many people still speaking English in former manner?? Why?? Anybody can tell me why??

By the way, I am adding yours too.

      Ting Tit Lei,
based on your statement, it means that our country is not stable yet?? Hmm… Maybe you are right.

Haih…our education ministry never made up their mind…sekejap bahasa melayu, the next day, back to bahasa malaysia. Every minister holds the chair, make the children like a lab rat on testing their so called education enhancement but the true fact, its just a pain in the ass.

    11. Tiuniasing Says:

      kraken,
I think you’ve got it half right only. For me, it could be the current system doesn’t work. That’s why we need a new system. What say you??

      huei,
piracy belongs to China now. Hahaa…

    12. Iris Says:

      Tiuniasing, I love you

    13. Tiuniasing Says:

      Iris,
      thank you!!

    14. kraken Says:

      Tiu
True the current system doesn’t work. The current system derived from the previous system. They discarded the old system thinking it would be the best for today’s need. The minister including the education directors came from the old system. What do they know what the younger generations need for their education? Just because they are parents as well? How about the voice of other parents? They implement the new system thinking it would be the best. Every time a new system implemented, no implementation phases. The whole chunk implementation.

For instance, the open certificate for SPM. They use grades and each grades represent certain merit points. The way I view it…it is just the same with the old aggregates system. So the whole so called enhancement is just a political benchmark for certain individual.

    15. Tiuniasing Says:

      kraken,
they just want to show who’s in charge!! Damn it!!
