30 children hospitalised after eating canteen food
MIRI: About 30 students from SK Luak in the city’s outskirts were rushed to hospital with severe abdominal pains, diarrhoea and vomiting after reportedly eating food at the school canteen. - The Star
Children got food poisoning in school canteen isn’t something new and strange to us anymore, and we can read news about it very often now.
When I was in primary school, I rememeber the infamous susu recommended by Ministry of Education had caused a lot of students got food poisoning after taking it. It had been stopped for a while for investigation, and continued to supply to the kids after that. Still, a lot of students got problem after taking the susu after that. I didn’t really know what was going wrong with the susu, could be the production problem, or perhaps the storage problem, I don’t know and I am not interested to know.
I can see a lot of restaurants and cafes got fined by municipal council because of the cleaniness is not up to the standard. I think this is a good move by the authorities to ensure that we are under good protection. But I wonder if the school canteens have to be examined by the authorities as well for their cleaniness?? If yes, then how come we can still hear students hospitalized after eating school canteen food?? If no, then why no??
I had my secondary education in a sekolah kebangsaan and the canteen there is even worse that most of the restaurant that I have visited before. In my history, I found flies in my mi sup, I found cockroach’s leg in my nasi lemak and many more stories about the cleaniness issue of the canteen. Please do something to help our children!!
