We need to change for a better tomorrow

    By Tiuniasing | March 7, 2008

Today, Friday, is the last day before our National General Election Day. Since everybody is writing about the election in order not to be looked outdated, I don’t want to be left out too. For your information, I’ve registered already therefore I am eligible to vote for our country’s future and my own tomorrows. Don’t ask me when I registered, it wasn’t long ago.

Before I registered, I had no interest in politics. I thought it was irrelevant to me, I just couldn’t find a reason to make myself shown up in the election day and place my vote. Until the past election, I realized that I was wrong. I started my business about 6 years ago if I am not mistaken, but it hadn’t had been shaped properly. In the beginning of my business, I was dealing with friends, or friend’s friends or their relatives or someone they know, it was via connections and networks. It was okay for the beginning but as time went by, I had to look for bigger projects in order to expand my business into a better shape.

From then on, I started to mix with those who have their own company. I thought by mixing with them, I had chances to do business with them. I was half right only because it didn’t help much. You know, these bosses, they know a lot of people, and a lot of people who know them actually have the same objective as I do. For a few times, I got the chance to send in my proposal or tender for their company projects, this actually considered as a step forward for my business. At least I got the chance or kang tao to send in the proposal. But, would I get the deal closed, would I get them to accept my proposal is totally another story.

I was kinda fed up after so many tries. I invested most of my time on these so-called opportunities and ended up I got nothing in return. Okay, maybe I had known a few rich fuckers who always called me out for yam seng, that was how I learnt to make friend with alcohol, at least I could drive home safely after one whole bottle of VSOP consumed. Frankily speaking, it was not a good experience. The next day I woke up, I had a terrible hangover and I felt as if struggling in the hell for lives. One whole bottle of VSOP is my max but I will never want to get to my max again. The most I can go now is only half a bottle of it.

Until one day, one of the bosses told me something which I did not know. He said, the easiest way to do business is to work for the politicians. He continued, with the politicians’ background and power, my route to success is at least 50% easier and smoother, and that’s the best way to expand my network and build up my profile too. He said, all the Datuks and Tan Sris are actually supporting the politicians in their respective parties, and their aim is only one, to get more projects through the politicians’ power and background, to shorten the process of approval of any application. Making friend with politicians is like holding a 2 of spades in hands when playing chor dai dee. If you know more politicians, it is like having all the four dees in hands. So you tell me, how can you not success with this??

Another reason for me to get involved in politics is that I am not all happy with our government policies recently. During Badawi’s administration, MCA looked like a weak dog only. There were a few times, UMNO people spoke and did something unfair to the Chinese and Indians, but no one from MCA or MIC stood out and diu back. I only saw DAP people shouting so loudly but it doesn’t help at all, sohai. Ehh… I remember, some MCA men did voice out their unhappiness and dissatisfaction, but then it ended up with these group of MCA heroes who have been great and brave, now is being frozen or withdrawn from the party. Where can like that?? We do not want cowards to represent us, we do not want suk tao wu guai to work for us. We want someone who is daring to point out the weaknesses of our country policy, and make changes to it.

I remember our deputy PM apologized to the Indian for demolishing the Indian’s temple before Deepavali last year. His apology came only after a few months of the demolition, and it was not long before the PM dissolved the Cabinet. Would you call that as sincere?? Fuck you!! I strongly believe that the apology is for the sake of general election. Also, I am getting tu lan with some of the UMNO’s big men for their brainless speech, especially Khairy, the one who never cares about our feelings!! Damn it… I am going to get things back on the right track tomorrow!! Will you join me??
