No risk no glory - 3

    By Tiuniasing | August 3, 2008

I am kinda upset seeing them, I upset because the reality have caused everyone to be protective and selfish. I understand their fear but that doesn’t mean I can forgive them. I am part of the company and worst comes to worst, I am only the junior staff as compare to them. Most of them have been with the company for more than 10 years and some even close to 20 years. They have been in the comfort zones all this while and they can’t afford to lose everything they have now. If they have to leave the company one day, they will make sure that they have gorek enough from the company before they leave. Cheebye!!

Same as them, I also know that the current situation isn’t good to everyone of us. But I think that the things have not come to the end of days, blame me for being too optimised. What I can see is that the strategy and planning done for this year have got its weaknesses. Plus the uncertain political and world economic issues have seriously hit every corner of the earth, every0ne got affected. In my opinion, for the time being, we have to make changes to the current plan and strategy, in order to cope with the flow and situation of the nature of current economy. Everybody knows that the current situation will not be improved at all if we do not change. But no one wants to change, or no one dares to make the changes. Frankily speaking, I do not think as them.

Last month, I made a proposal on changes of the company. I pointed out what problems we have and I suggested the solutions to it. I included steps on getting all the problems solved too. I came out with ideas on where we can save cost, as well as where we should inject more funds to speed up on some products. I think the sooner we finish the products, the sooner we can see the ripen grapes and start selling it. I did the proposal voluntarily, without anyone awares, including my boss. Many people will say I am a stupid for doing something out of scope or redundant. But I do not see it this way. For me, I believe my ideas will help the company to overcome the current situation, that’s why I suggest it to my boss. Of course, he has the option to reject my idea if he thinks it is inappropriate or irrelavant. Most probably, he would have refused to read my ideas because it wasn’t supposingly done by me as I was only a small staff in the company. But still it didn’t stop me from getting the proposal done.

It took me about a week to get the proposal done. I did not do the proposal in the office as I had other stuff to do. I did it at home, I only slept 3 hours a day just to get the proposal done in the shortest period of time. When it was done, I presented it to my boss and fortunately he accepted my idea. He thanked me for coming out with a good plan, and asked me to get things executed and worked out as planned, and he will provide enough resources and fundings for my rescue plan. Since then, my role changed. I am no longer receiving order from anyone but I am ordering everyone to follow my order. Sometimes when I recall, if I failed to convince my boss to accept my plan, probably I would be blamed by the boss for jaga tepi kain orang lain and everyone would not respect me anymore. But then again, no risk no glory!!
